Engraving Tools are Top Tool in 2018

Sometimes the underdog wins, and in 2018, first place went to the mighty but sometimes overlooked engraving tool. Its current demand and rise in popularity was a pleasant surprise.

Engraving tools are primarily used for machining serial numbers and other inscriptions on a part. It may also be used, secondarily, as an economic tool for chamfering a corner or as an angle cutter. The tool tip is held to +/- 0.001 inch tolerance for easy programming and is offered in several diameters for a variety of marking sizes.

SCT recently released brand new helical chamfer mills to the Specialty End Mills section. It is bound to be a contender for first spot in 2019.
