Scientific Cutting Tools retaining ring groove tools are ideal for internal grooving of retaining rings and O-rings on a lathe. It cuts an internal groove with straight edges while the O-ring groove tool cuts an internal groove with a tapered edge. Over 130 sizes are available with options for left or right-hand styles. Minimum bore diameters start at 0.060” and shank sizes range from ⅛” up to ½”. An AlTiN coating is recommended for higher surface feet per minute and extended tool life. The solid carbide tools feature a precision ground shank diameter with a flat for guaranteed tool orientation. The elliptically ground neck provides increased durability. For optimal performance, the flute face is skillfully polished. Retaining ring groove tools can be used in conjunction with the Coolant Ring Technology (CRT) holder to enhance chip evacuation and prevent heat-related issues during application.
