Scientific Cutting Tools Hosts Local High School Students for Manufacturing Day
Simi Valley, Calif., November 13, 2026 — Scientific Cutting Tools (SCT), a third-generation, family-owned manufacturer of precision cutting tools, welcomed students from Apollo High School, Simi Valley High School, and Santa Susana High School to its Simi Valley headquarters for Manufacturing Day, the national celebration that introduces the next generation to today’s high-tech advanced manufacturing careers. In addition, students from Grace School and Oaks Christian School toured SCT on a separate day as part of the company’s ongoing Manufacturing Day programming.
More than 40 students and educators toured SCT’s production floor throughout the month of October to see how carbide tools are designed, ground, coated, inspected, and prepared for shipment to distributors and machine shops across North America. Students rotated through demonstrations featuring CNC grinding, inspection, tool design, and shipping/fulfillment, while learning about pathways into the industry through community college programs, certifications, and on-the-job training programs.
“Manufacturing today is clean, digital, and creative,” said Sarah Christopher Falk, Director of Marketing at SCT. “We want local students to see that the skills they’re building in robotics, engineering, math, and the trades can translate directly into well-paid, meaningful careers right here in our community.”
During the visit, SCT engineers and machine operators discussed real-world applications of geometry, physics, and programming in toolmaking, from multi-axis CNC grinding and wheel selection to tolerances verified with vision systems and laser measurement. Safety, quality, and teamwork were emphasized throughout the tour, and students had time for Q&A with SCT’s manufacturing and engineering leaders.
Educators highlighted the value of connecting classroom learning with local industry, while also pointing out that manufacturing is a language that spans the world over. The events align with regional workforce goals to expand awareness of high-demand manufacturing roles, such as CNC programmer, industrial engineer, quality technician, and supply-chain specialist, and to help students explore multiple paths after graduation.
SCT plans to continue partnering with local schools to host additional tours and classroom talks throughout the year. Educators interested in arranging a visit or guest speaker are encouraged to reach out.
